Michał Misiak

Michał Misiak is a cross-cultural psychologist. He works at the University of Wrocław and collaborates with the University of Oxford.

His research focuses on the psychology of cooperation and conflict, as well as the role of morality in social life. He has conducted fieldwork among the Hadza and Datoga in Tanzania and the Yali community in New Guinea.

He is actively involved in the Open Science and Big Team Science movements, participating in large-scale cross-cultural research projects. He currently leads a grant funded by the Polish National Science Centre entitled Taboos and Their Role in Fostering Cooperation, investigating the social significance of taboos, including among nomadic groups in Mongolia.

Michał also works as a consultant for humanitarian organisations, including UNICEF (Ukraine, Gaza Strip), UNDP (Lebanon), and Mercy Corps (Ethiopia), supporting educational and aid initiatives as well as interventions aimed at strengthening community resilience. He has also contributed to a European Commission project on ethical political communication.

He is engaged in science communication and appears in major Polish media outlets, such as Polityka, TVN, Tygodnik Powszechny, and Gazeta Wyborcza.
