Tomasz Besta

Dr hab. Tomasz Besta, Professor at the University of Gdańsk, works at the Institute of Psychology, where he heads the Laboratory of Environmental Psychology and Intergroup Relations. His research focuses on intergroup relations, group dynamics, and collective action, including protest, radicalization, and the acceptance of political violence. He conducts extensive cross-cultural research, examining gender stereotypes, solidarity with migrants, and support for authoritarian leaders across different cultural contexts. He is also engaged in environmental psychology, studying pro-environmental motivation and how characteristics of residential environments relate to quality of life. He has published widely in leading international journals and is a co-author of the books Między Grupami and Walcz, protestuj, zmieniaj świat. He is actively involved in science communication through public lectures and workshops.
