Carlo Garofalo

Carlo Garofalo, PhD, is Associate Professor in Psychodynamic and Clinical Psychology at the University of Perugia (Italy), Department of Philosophy, Social Sciences and Education.

He is board member of the Board of Professional Psychologists for the Region Umbria, President of the Italian Society for Forensic Psychotherapy and Rehabilitation, and founding member and co-chair of the Section for the study of aggression and antisociality within the European Society for the Study of Personality Disorders.

Dr. Garofalo serves on several editorial roles, including: Associate Editor for the International Journal of Forensic Mental Health, the Journal of Criminal Justice, and Frontiers in Psychiatry — Forensic Psychiatry section; Consulting Editor for Journal of Personality Assessment and Psychological Assessment; Editorial Board member for the International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, Journal of Criminal Psychology, Trauma, Violence, & Abuse, Journal of Forensic Psychology: Research and Practice, and the International Journal of Applied Violent and Criminal Behavior.

His research interests lie at the intersection of developmental psychopathology, clinical psychology and forensic psychopathology, with special emphasis on the intertwined roles of early relational experiences, emotion regulation, and personality in adaptive and maladaptive functioning – as well as their assessment.
