Dominic Willmott

Dr Dominic Willmott is an Associate Professor in Legal and Criminological Psychology at Loughborough University in the UK and Visiting Professor in Psychology at SWPS University in Wroclaw. His research primarily investigates bias within criminal legal systems, with a particular focus on jury decision-making in rape trials and the influence (and prevalence) of rape myths upon societal and legal judgements towards RASSO complainants. He has published his research widely, authoring more than 100 research outputs to date related to psychological basis to offending behaviour and legal responses to gender-based violence. He has received almost £5 million in research funding to carry out this research and is Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Criminal Psychology as well as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Justice is Now – a charity that aims to reduce the bias towards victims of sexual violence.

He has also co-authored a number of research articles on psychopathy related to; psychopathy among offending and non-offending populations, the link between psychopathic traits and rape myth beliefs as well as being the first researcher in investigate the role of psychopathy in juror decision making.
