Jan Blecharz

Professor Jan Blecharz is a Polish sport psychologist and a certified master-class practitioner of the Polish Psychological Association. A graduate of the Jagiellonian University, he served as Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and as a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at the University of Physical Education (AWF, currently University of Physical Culture - AKF) in Krakow, Poland. He is an active member of both national and international professional organizations, including the Polish Psychological Association, the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, the International Society of Sport Psychology, and the European Federation of Sport Psychology.

Professor Blecharz’s scholarly and professional interests focus on the mental preparation of athletes for top-level competition, psychoregulation techniques, and the psychological mechanisms involved in sports-related injuries. He is the author of numerous publications as well as innovative psychological methods implemented in mental training for athletes. His extensive academic activity is complemented by long-standing educational and training work addressed to psychologists, coaches, and athletes across multiple sport disciplines.

In his applied practice, Professor Blecharz has collaborated with several Polish national teams, including the women’s national basketball team, the national ski-jumping team, figure skaters, and the Polish Sport Shooting Federation. Since 2013, he has also served as a sport psychologist for the Polish national athletics team, while continuing to provide consultancy for individual elite athletes. He has participated as a psychologist in numerous major international sporting events, including the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships, contributing to athletes’ psychological preparation and performance at the highest competitive level.
