
Maria Baran
Cross-cultural psychologist specializing in the psychology of migration and acculturation, with a particular focus on psychological resilience in this context, as well as intercultural competence. Affiliated with the SWPS University in Warsaw since 2009, she works as a lecturer and researcher. In addition to her academic role, she also conducts intercultural competence training. With over thirteen years of training experience, she has collaborated with organizations such as BASF, Gemalto, Wedel Lotte, PMP, PAIiIZ, ZPP, the Leon Koźmiński Academy, and the SWPS University. Her expertise extends to conducting intercultural training for the management teams of Polish and international corporations, as well as facilitating adaptive training and cultural awareness sessions for expatriates residing in Poland. As a lecturer within the GLOBAL Minds program, she educates future intercultural trainers. She is a co-author of recommendations for foundations supporting refugees from Ukraine in Poland, titled "Superhero in a Skirt: Psychological Resilience of Ukrainian Women Fleeing War to Poland – Research Report and Recommendations for the Third Sector." She also contributed to recommendations regarding integration policy in the context of migration triggered by Russia's attack on Ukraine in the project "Hospitality Poland 2022+. How to Wisely Support Poland and Poles in Helping People Fleeing War in Ukraine?" She is a member of the ResWell Multi-national Resilience & Well-Being Research Collaboration, the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology, the Polish Association of Social Psychology, and the Identification With All Humanity Lab.
