
Maria Gardani
Maria Gardani is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Health in Social Science at the University of Edinburgh. Her research examines the intersection of sleep and mental health, applying psychological theory and rigorous methodological approaches to understand the onset and maintenance of sleep and circadian difficulties across the lifespan, including in the context of chronic health conditions. Her work aims to inform the development of evidence-based interventions and improve clinical and public health outcomes.
She serves on the Executive Panel of the British Sleep Society, where she leads the Research Committee, and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Sleep Research. A committed advocate of open science and co-production, she actively engages with patients, practitioners, and the public to advance accessible and impactful sleep research.
