Rafal Ramut

Rafał Ramut is a third-year doctoral candidate at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, where he researches the application of struvite in fertilisation and the challenges of sustainable and regenerative agriculture. His academic interests focus on translating fundamental research into practical solutions relevant to farmers, policymakers, and food production systems. In his work, he prioritises measurable outcomes, interdisciplinarity, and real impact on the socio-economic environment. He became involved in doctoral self-governance from the very first year of his PhD. He began as Vice-Chair of the Doctoral Students’ Council at his university, later becoming its Chair an experience that convinced him that changing the system from within is possible, though it demands patience. As Chair of the Wrocław-Opole Doctoral Students’ Alliance, he broadened that perspective to the regional level. Today, as President of the Polish National Association of Doctoral Candidates, he works to strengthen the position of doctoral researchers across Poland in legal, systemic, and academic terms, as well as in the areas of well-being and mental health. He believes that the essence of good leadership lies not in representation alone, but in attentive listening that leads to responsible and effective action.
