Tomasz Ligęza

Tomasz Ligeza, PhD, is a psychologist and researcher affiliated with the Institute of Psychology at Jagiellonian University. His research focuses on understanding how physical activity supports cognitive functioning and psychological well-being across populations. He explores why we think more clearly and feel better after exercise — and how these mechanisms can be intentionally applied in everyday life to help maintain cognitive performance across the lifespan.

Integrating psychology, exercise physiology, and neuroscience, he conducts interdisciplinary research on the interaction between body and brain. He has authored numerous scientific publications and leads research projects funded by the Polish National Science Centre. He has conducted research at Columbia University (New York), Northeastern University (Boston), and the University of Münster (Germany). Recipient of prestigious scholarship programs for young scientists, including the START Scholarship from the Foundation for Polish Science.

In everyday life, he combines scientific work with an active lifestyle — believing that the best research is the kind that works beyond the laboratory.
