
Agnieszka Popiel
Psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and psychotherapy supervisor. She co-directs the Clinic and School of Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapy as well as the Clinical Research and Psychotherapy Development Centre at SWPS University. She is a co-author of studies on the effectiveness of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy for PTSD, the results of which have been included in the current NICE guidelines — the only Polish psychotherapy studies to date incorporated into HTA recommendations for the treatment of mental disorders. Her research also focuses on PTSD prevention, psychotherapy, and supervision.
For over 25 years, she has been involved in the training of psychotherapists. The textbook Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapy. Theory and Practice (Warsaw, PWN 2022) received the Polish Academy of Sciences Władysław Witwicki Award.
She is a member of the accreditation committee and the working group on psychotherapy regulations within the European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT).
