
Andreas G. F. Hoepner
Expert in financial data analysis and operational risk, and Professor at University College Dublin. He serves as Head of the Data Science Hub for the European Union’s second Platform on Sustainable Finance. Previously, he was a member of the first EU Platform on Sustainable Finance and the EU Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance.
Through his work with the EU, he co-developed the concepts of “EU Climate Transition and EU Paris-Aligned Investing,” the EVIC metric (2019), precautionary CO₂e emissions estimations (2021), and EU Taxonomy-aligned benchmarks (2023).
Prof. Hoepner serves on advisory boards for organizations including BJSS, ExecuShe, Finance Map, LGPS Central, RepRisk, SDGLabs.ai, and VLK. He is also the co-founder and chair of two social enterprises: ReFine (2013–2021) and Sociovestix Labs.
He has advised the United Nations (2021) and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA, 2022–2023) on green taxonomies in the EU, South Africa, and Mongolia. He is the sole inventor of the U.S. patent titled Investment Performance Measurement.
His interdisciplinary work has received multiple awards and has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union, as well as in journals such as Science, Nature Climate Change, and more than 50 Financial Times-listed journals, including Journal of Business Ethics, Research Policy, and Review of Finance.
