
Joanna Nyczak
Director of the Department of Health and Social Affairs at Wrocław City Hall.
Born in Zielona Góra, she chose Wrocław as her home. She is a graduate of law from the University of Wrocław. In the early years of her professional career, she was involved in business consulting in human resources management, particularly in recruitment and selection. She developed her managerial competencies in HR departments in both the service sector and local government administration. In 2011, she decided on a radical change in her professional focus, moving into the public health sector. In 2013, she was promoted to Director of the Department of Health and Social Affairs at Wrocław City Hall. Since then, she has focused on population-effective and cost-effective disease prevention programs, especially for lifestyle diseases, and health promotion, based on scientific principles. She continuously enhances her qualifications. She is a graduate of several postgraduate programs, including healthcare unit management at Collegium Medicum of Jagiellonian University. She is a long-standing chairwoman of the Commission for Solving Alcohol-Related Problems under the Mayor of Wrocław. She regularly participates in meetings of representatives of the European network of healthy cities operating within the WHO European Healthy Cities Network. She is active in the field of equality, especially between women and men in local life. Since 2014, she has been the Chairwoman of the Wrocław Women's Council.
A fulfilled woman: mother, a civil servant by vocation, a film enthusiast, a Tatra Mountains climber. A regular attendee of the New Horizons film festival. She relaxes by reading, in the Tatra Mountains, and doing yoga.
