Description:
Can the complexities of the human mind be captured in a few seconds on TikTok or Instagram Reels without oversimplifying the message? This question will be at the heart of a panel discussion during the Re_Mind Congress (Monday, 5:50 PM). Designed for anyone interested in how knowledge can be shared responsibly in today’s media landscape, the session will explore how to popularize psychological and mental health topics wisely and safely, while helping audiences distinguish credible creators from harmful, superficial pop psychology.
During the discussion, we will address some of the most pressing challenges faced by online educators and their audiences today. We will examine how to talk about depression, ADHD, and autism spectrum conditions in ways that encourage self-awareness rather than risky self-diagnosis based on short-form content. We will also explore where the line should be drawn between education and unlicensed therapy.
The panel will discuss creators’ responsibilities when audience members disclose serious mental health crises, as well as the ethical considerations involved in promoting mental health apps, supplements, and other products related to psychological well-being.
This promises to be a rich, thought-provoking, and much-needed conversation. It is a unique opportunity to gain insight into the realities of creating online educational content and to learn how to maintain accuracy and integrity in an era increasingly shaped by algorithms.
