
Agata Dębowska
Dr hab. Agata Dębowska, Professor at SWPS University, is a Polish-British psychologist specializing in the psychology of interpersonal violence and its prevention. She earned her PhD in psychology from the University of Huddersfield in the UK (2014) and her habilitation (doktor habilitowany) in psychology from SWPS University in 2021. She is a Chartered Psychologist of the British Psychological Society and holds university teaching qualifications from the Higher Education Academy (UK). Furthermore, she is a member of the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN). Before joining the faculty at SWPS University, she held academic positions at several UK institutions, including the University of Sheffield, Liverpool John Moores University, and the University of Chester. Her research interests focus on intimate partner violence (in particular emotional abuse), child abuse and neglect, mental health, and psychopathy. In 2023, she developed and validated the world’s first scale for measuring brain fog. She has conducted research in these fields across Poland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Uganda, India, and the Caribbean (Barbados, Grenada, and Jamaica). At SWPS University, she also serves as the Director of the Center for Open Education.
