Aleksandra Cisłak-Wójcik

Social and political psychologist, expert in the psychology of power and social identity. Graduate of social psychology at SWPS University and journalism and social communication at the University of Warsaw.

Her research focuses on how the sense of power, control, and belonging influences the way we perceive other people, shape social relationships, and make decisions about our shared future — from public health to environmental protection. She is particularly interested in how psychology shapes social life and the mechanisms underlying group functioning.

She gained research experience during internships and research visits at institutions in Germany, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Israel. Recipient of scholarships awarded by the Foundation for Polish Science, the weekly magazine Polityka, and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists. She has led and co-created numerous research projects.

She has published in journals including Nature Reviews Psychology, Political Psychology, and Journal of Environmental Psychology, and serves on the editorial board of Psychology of Women Quarterly.

She is actively engaged in the popularisation of psychological knowledge, collaborating with major Polish media outlets, including Polityka, Newsweek, and Gazeta Wyborcza. She believes that reliable psychology helps us better understand contemporary social challenges and make more informed decisions.
