
Bogumiła Kaniewska
Professor of Humanities at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland. Deputy Director of the Institute of Polish Philology at the Adam Mickiewicz University (2005-2012), Dean of the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology at the Adam Mickiewicz University (2012-2016). Vice-Rector for Student Affairs at UAM (2016-2020) and in September 2020 she was elected Rector of the University - the first woman to hold this position. Chairwoman of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities from 2020 to 2024. Chairwoman of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Academic Schools for the 2024-2028 term. She is the author or co-author of almost 100 scientific works - books and articles. In her academic work, she mainly deals with 20th century literature and is a literary critic. She is also a translator of English-language prose, especially children's prose, which is her great passion. She obtained her doctorate in 1995, her habilitation in 2001 and her title of Professor of Humanities in 2015. In 2024, she was re-elected as the Rector of the Adam Mickiewicz University.
