Wojciech Dragan

He is Professor of Social Sciences and a psychologist at the Institute of Psychology, Jagiellonian University. He holds degrees in psychology and biology from the University of Warsaw, where he received his PhD in psychology in 2005 (summa cum laude) and habilitation in 2015; he was awarded the title of Professor in 2024. His research focuses on biological and environmental determinants of individual differences, particularly temperament, stress reactivity, and risk factors for mental disorders. It also includes biological and developmental correlates of sexual orientation as well as gender diversity and the development and adaptation of psychometric instruments. He is the author or co-author of numerous publications in international journals in psychology, neuroscience, and sexuality research and has led several research projects funded by the Polish National Science Centre. Since 2024 he has served as Chair of the Committee of Psychology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (previously Vice-Chair in 2020–2023) and as a member of the Council for Science Popularization of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He also chairs the ministerial advisory group responsible for developing national training standards for psychologists. He is actively involved in science communication, including writing popular science articles, maintaining a psychology blog, and giving public lectures. His awards include a Fulbright Senior Award (2017–2018), the Andrzej Malewski Prize of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Teofrast Prize for the best scientific psychology book.
